No hormones or chemicals are used to delay or alter their development. They will continue to develop normally after purchase, so you might find pupae in the mealworm container - this is normal. Many animals will readily eat the pupae. Prefer slightly larger mealworms? Just let us know in the "order notes" field during checkout and we'll fill your order with larvae averaging 1" (7/8" to 1 1/8"). Packaging Packed with fresh wheat bran in a heavy-duty paper container with vented lid, the mealworms are ready to feed immediately or to store until needed. Reusable containers are available for repeat orders. We value our mealworms and take excellent care of them. Preparing them for delivery can stress them a little, though, so we add extra to every order to account for any loss.
