Congratulations to Ayrshire distillery Lochlea - the producer is celebrating its fifth anniversary! To mark the occasion it’s released its very first age-statement expression: Lochlea 5 Year Old. It’s a vatting of five different casks - including two ex-bourbon barrels filled during the distillery’s first production week! The other three casks are first-fill Oloroso sherry, a double matured Oloroso sherry, and a double matured Pedro Ximenez sherry. It’s vibrant yet surprisingly elegant for a younger spirit - a fitting way to commemorate the milestone. It’s also incredibly limited, so pick up a bottle now to avoid disappointment. Tasting notes from Lochlea: Nose: Baked pineapple, brown sugar, hazelnuts, sourdough bread Palate: Lemon zest, candied pear crumble, orange peel Finish: Caramel with hints of black pepper, rose petals and leather
