Hydraulic fluid temperatures above 180°F (82°C) damage most seal compounds and accelerate degradation of oil, leading to inefficiencies through contamination. The recommended amount, which is between 1% and 2% of the bulk oil amount, is combined with a sample of the base oil. Heating to around 55°C will speed up the blending process.
