Rubus x loganobaccus, commonly known as loganberry, is a fruit-bearing hybrid plant that is a cross between a red raspberry (Rubus idaeus) and a blackberry (Rubus ursinus). The log anberry was first developed in the late 19th century by James Harvey Logan, a California lawyer and amateur horticulturist, who was looking to create a new fruit that combined the best characteristics of both berries. Loganberries produce small white to pinkish flowers in the spring or early summer, which are followed by the fruit in mid-summer. The berries have a sweet and tart flavor that is similar to raspberries but with a hint of blackberry flavor. They are commonly used for making jams, jellies, pies, and other desserts. Show more
