My husband once told me about walking through a field and coming upon a parliament of Long Eared Owls—dozens of them circling silently overhead in the fading light. He described it as eerie, the way the air held no sound, just the presence of wings moving through space like shadows given form. It was the kind of encounter that stays with you, haunting and beautiful in equal measure. This piece is part of my Owl Series, born from that story and my desire to study the intricate feather patterns of these local birds. Rendered in charcoal pencils on recycled tinted paper, each delicate stroke is an exploration of texture and detail, a meditation on the quiet magic these creatures carry. To capture even a fragment of that silent, circling wonder felt like honoring something rare—a moment when the veil between the ordinary and the extraordinary grows thin. All giclee prints are made using archival, pigmented inks. This fine art print allows you to see all the detail from the original drawing and will last generations.
