In his Three Scenes, David Long has composed music of the highest possible quality. The first movement, Aria, is one of the most challenging rolled pieces you will encounter, music ally and technically. The second movement, Interlude, is transition material from the first movement to the third with figures that fly up and down the instrument. The final movement, Dance, opens with a complicated ostinato in the left hand and the melody in the right hand. Long then switches the roles of the hands.
