Our LARP foam Longsword has long cruciform hilt which provide room for two hands. A powerful and versatile weapon, the Longsword is used for hewing, slicing, and stabbing. The Long sword appears to have become popular during the 14th century and remained in common use from 1250 to 1550. It was used as a military steel weapon of the earlier phase of the Hundred Years’ War. It was intended for wielders wearing full plate armor either on foot or on horseback throughout the late medieval period. The sword is commonly held in combat with both hands (although some may be used single-handed). Our Longsword is 124cm long with 34cm long hilt and 90cm Great blade. The sword weighs 1150 g. It can only be ordered only with a 16x8 core and a deluxe leather wrap with ring. The FakeSteel foam Long blade uses a durable 16x8mm fibreglass core, which is completely sufficient even at 90cm length. The Mercenary foam Great blade uses a new 16x8mm carbon core which is durable enough even at the maximal 100cm length. This core is significantly lighter than fibreglass, making the 90cm Great blade about 100g lighter than the 90cm Long blade. You can see how well it holds up here.
