Blak Land2025acrylic on wooden board30.5 x 40.6cm When I was given the word “resilience”, I thought firstly of culture and the Ancestors and Elders who have been through countless atrocities since the beginning of colonial times. I also think about the resilience of this land – much like First Nation peoples, this land was also dispossessed. The land and First Nations people go hand in hand. I believe that for our people to be able to be so resilient, is thanks to the land and in turn, the land was resilient as it was cared for expertly. This piece tells the story of the Blak land, “Australia”, in black to represent our First peoples. Show more
