For many, the language of “lost” and “found” in these three parables will call to mind the words of the most well-known of all hymns, “Amazing Grace,” with its line, “I once was lo st, but now am found.” Chris Tomlin’s 2003 arrangement, “Amazing Grace / My Chains Are Gone,” is popular as well. Both the hymn and the praise song draw the parallel of being found with salvation in Christ, and both celebrate God’s sovereignty.
