The flagship of the Louet line The Louet Delta sits at the top of the Louet floor loom lineup, and it shows in every detail. Built on the legacy of the beloved Hollandia and the proven Spring, the Delta refines everything that made those looms exceptional and pushes it further. This is a loom engineered for serious weavers who demand consistent, precise results across long sessions, heavy warps, and complex structures. Crafted from plantation-grown ash and finished with a double coat of clear semi-gloss lacquer, the Delta is as beautiful as it is built to last. Louet has been designing and manufacturing weaving and spinning equipment since 1976, and the Delta represents nearly five decades of that research and refinement in a single, purpose-built floor loom. The parallel countermarche system: what sets it apart The Delta uses Louet's parallel countermarche system, and if you've never woven on a true countermarche loom, this is the feature that will change how you think about weaving. In a countermarche setup, every treadle is tied to every harness. You depress one treadle at a time, and the result is a clean, balanced shed, every time. Because of the parallel design, all treadles behave identically across the full width of the loom. There's no variation from one end to the other. What you feel on treadle one is exactly what you feel on treadle twelve. The springy tie-up device on the treadles creates a progressive shed: the opening widens gradually toward the back harnesses so that warp threads above and below in the shed remain on even levels. This produces a clean, smooth passage for the shuttle and dramatically reduces warp abrasion, which is essential when weaving with fine or delicate threads. All lams are horizontal, which makes changing tie-ups straightforward. No awkward angles, no guesswork. The floating breast beam: consistent tension, every advance One of the Delta's signature features is its floating (moving) breast beam. This isn't decorative engineering. It solves one of the most frustrating problems in floor loom weaving: tension inconsistency after advancing the warp. When you advance the cloth, the floating breast beam ensures warp tension returns to exactly the same level it was before the advance. You set your tension once and weave confidently, knowing it won't shift on you. Fine-increment adjustments are possible at any time, giving you precise control over your warp. The sprung breast beam allows the shed to open to approximately 8 cm even with inelastic warps, a generous opening that makes shuttle passes fast and easy. Rear-hinged treadles: light action, long weaving sessions The Delta's treadles hinge from the back of the loom. This is not a minor detail. Rear-slung treadles require you to lift from the thigh rather than pushing down from the toe, and the result is a noticeably lighter treadle action that reduces fatigue significantly during extended weaving. Weavers who spend hours at the loom regularly comment on how much less effort the Delta demands compared to front-hinged alternatives. Optional height-adjusting blocks are available to accommodate different leg lengths and ergonomic preferences. Built to configure and expand The Delta is available in two weaving widths and two harness configurations: Delta 110: 43.3 inch (110 cm) weaving width, 8 or 12 harnesses Delta 130: 51.1 inch (130 cm) weaving width, 8 or 12 harnesses Harness count can be expanded with an optional extension set that adds four harnesses and four treadles, taking an 8-shaft loom up to 12 shafts without replacing the loom. This makes the Delta an investment that grows with you. Harnesses are individually adjustable so you can introduce slack for easier threading during warping, then tighten them back for weaving. The castle section arrives pre-assembled, handling the most complex part of setup before the loom even reaches your studio. Warp beam and cloth beam The warp beam uses a sturdy friction brake system that is easy to operate, precise in increments, and forgiving during long warping sessions. The cloth beam uses a ratchet advancing system with a handle you operate from your weaving position, so there's no getting up or repositioning mid-project. An optional sectional warp beam is available for weavers who work with long or color-specific warps. What's included Every Louet Delta ships with a comprehensive set of tools: Built-in raddle (integrated into the castle) Storage shelf Stainless steel reed, 40/10 (10 dpi) 1,200 Texsolv heddles for the Delta 110, 1,400 for the Delta 130 (330 mm) Tie-up cords and lease sticks Sixteen warp sticks Castle section pre-assembled Specifications Delta 110 Delta 130 Weaving width 43.3 inch (110 cm) 51.1 inch (130 cm) Overall dimensions (W x D x H) 55 inch x 39 3/8 inch x 50 3/8 inch 63 inch x 39 3/8 inch x 50 3/8 inch Weight (8-shaft) 194 lb (88 kg) 205 lb (93 kg) Harness options 8 or 12 8 or 12 Reed included 40/10 stainless steel 40/10 stainless steel Heddles included 1,200 Texsolv (330 mm) 1,400 Texsolv (330 mm) Add 17 lb (8 kg) for each 4-harness extension set. Its rear-hinged treadle system is standard on larger looms for exactly this reason: it optimizes the shed and keeps treadling light. If you're a shorter weaver, the treadle height blocks help, and our team is happy to talk through fit before you buy. Call us at (509) 536-7746. About Louet Louet has been building spinning and weaving equipment in the Netherlands since 1976. Their looms are known worldwide for precision engineering, ergonomic design, and remarkable longevity. It's common to find 30-year-old Louet looms still in daily use in working studios. When you invest in a Delta, you're buying a loom that will outlast trends, outlast other equipment, and likely outlast your need to upgrade. Have questions about the Delta? Our team weaves and spins.
