Engine Control Module - engine management control unit for the 2.2L four-cylinder common-rail turbo diesel, part of the engine modules and sensors group. The module reads the crank shaft, camshaft, rail pressure, boost, air mass and temperature sensors and uses them to control injection timing and quantity, rail pressure, turbocharger boost and the exhaust emission control functions including exhaust gas recirculation. It also exchanges data across the vehicle network, so its readings and demands are shared with the transmission, braking and instrument systems.
