The idler pulley is a fixed tensioning component in the accessory belt drive system of the 4.4 TDV8 diesel engine, responsible for guiding and maintaining correct belt alignment across the serpentine drive path. Unlike the tensioner pulley, the idler carries no spring-loaded mechanism but must rotate freely under load; worn or seized bearings will cause belt misalignment, audible squealing, or premature belt wear. This 80mm variant applies to vehicles from VIN BA000001 onwards.
