Heater Pipe - rigid heater manifold tube in the engine coolant circuit of the 5.0L V8 supercharged petrol engine. The pipe carries hot coolant from the engine block take-off to the heater inlet hose, forming the fixed section of the run between the block and the flexible hose that feeds the heater matrix. It is routed and clipped to clear the supercharger and inlet manifold, and carries a sensor boss so that coolant temperature is measured in the heater feed flow. Because the tube sits in a hot, cramped part of the vee, its seals and joints are subject to repeated heat cycling. Corrosion at the crimped joints, a weeping sensor seal or a split at the hose spigot all present as slow coolant loss and heater underperformance. Renew the associated O-rings and hose clamps on refitting and pressure test the circuit before returning the vehicle to service.
