Developed at Louisiana State University (hence the name) for warmer climates. Loves heat and sunshine. This warmer hardy variety is perfect for porch side containers. Only hardy to zone 7, this fig does need to be inside during the winter if you live in northern climates. In containers, it can reach upwards of 6' tall and about 3' wide. The figs themselves are slightly smaller than a golfball and area purplish in color. Lighter purple stripes radiate from the crown of the fig and run along its sides giving it a lovely visual pattern. The figs are sweet and excellent eating off the tree or in baking.
