Originally released in 1966, "Lt. Robin Crusoe, U.S.N." is a Walt Disney adventure comedy starring Dick Van Dyke and Nancy Kwan. Van Dyke plays a US Navy pilot who ejects over the Pacific, washes ashore on a remote island and creates a makeshift life there before becoming involved with Wednesday, a young woman resisting the rule of her domineering father. Loosely inspired by Daniel Defoe’s "Robinson Crusoe", the film was based on an idea by Walt Disney, who received his only story credit under the reversed pseudonym Retlaw Yensid. Filmed largely on Kauai, it became a substantial box-office success and remains a lively showcase for Van Dyke’s physical comedy and easygoing screen charm. This original US one-sheet was produced for the film’s 1974 theatrical re-release.
