Lucky C200 is a colour negative film from China's Lucky Film, offering a genuinely affordable way into colour photography without needing to compromise on the basics. With a nominal ISO of 200, it's best suited to bright or moderate daylight conditions, giving reliable results without asking much in return. Colour rendering has its own character, a little cooler and less refined than the likes of Kodak's consumer films, which has made it something of a cult favourite among photographers looking for a distinctive, slightly rougher look. Grain is more noticeable than you'd get from a mainstream film at this speed, but that's very much part of its appeal rather than a shortcoming. It's a great one to experiment with if you want to see film stocks beyond the usual big names, and an easy way to shoot more without the cost adding up.
