These boards don't include the glass mancala ducks, so head over to my other listing for those : ) Single-piece mancala boardThere are two of these boards available- one high-gloss and one satin-finish! This is a wooden single-piece mancala board made by Alan Ludwig of Ludwig Makerspace (@ludwigmakerspace on Instagram). My friend Alan designed and used a CNC to mill this single-piece board in his shop near Seattle, Washington. We went through several iterations as we tested with the duckies, so this board is a perfect single-piece option that perfectly fits my glass mancala set. It is made of cherry wood with a lacquer finish. This is a handmade item and is imperfect- it has some slight finish irregularities, so please check out the photos to make sure that's okay with you! Each board has 4-5 soft cork bumpers glued to the bottom to prevent scuffing/ moving.Dimensions: 17.75" long x 5.5" wide x 1.5" tallMedium: Cherry wood finished with wipe-on polyurethane finishYear: 2024Folding mancala board My partner’s dad Gary Garrett made a folding wooden board completely by hand in his shop near Atlanta, Georgia. The 12 game wells are cut from one continuous piece of highly figured striped maple and individually turned on a wood lathe to the same diameter and depth. The end wells are carved from beautiful paduak wood, and along with the paduak trim offers a stunning contrast to the striped maple. The maple handles on the ends of each half of the board were also hand turned on a wood lathe and dimensioned by eye. Each handle is countersunk and glued into the end of the two boards for strength and durability (however, these handles are the parts of the board with the highest risk of damage and are not possible to replace if broken, so take care). There are 7 coats of lacquer finish that were hand sanded to 500 grit between each coat. The entire board was polished with a fine grit polish and waxed and buffed for the final finish. This is a handmade item so please check out the photos to make sure any imperfections are okay with you! Gary guided us in making our personal mancala board that I play on all the time, and he was excited to make another one for the duckie shop.
