Ludwigia Repens is an easy stem plant that adds vivid color to the front of the aquascape without much fuss. Its oval leaves grow in alternating pairs along a tilted stem, in shades of gold, orange, or red depending on tank conditions — most striking when planted in bunches of 10-12 stems. Skill Level Moderate CO2 Not Required, but recommended Requires Aqua Soil Recommended Type Stem Max Height 4-8" Placement Foreground to midground Light Level Medium (approx. 40-70 PAR) Origin Cosmopolitan Other High iron and light bring out the brightest red coloration; can grow emersed but is more difficult to cultivate that way. Care & Planting: Remove from bunch wrap/foam, then plant individual stems into substrate. Propagate by cutting the main stem and replanting cuttings. A note on appearance: Many stem plants, including this one, are harvested in their above-water (emersed) form, and the photo may not reflect how it looks once fully adjusted to life underwater. Leaf shape and coloration commonly shift as the plant transitions to submersed growth — don't be surprised if new growth looks different from what arrived in your order. Give it a few weeks to acclimate before judging its final look.
