Luminous Waters ✨ I was inspired by a sailing journey I embarked on some years ago, crossing the Pacific Ocean on a 50ft yacht from NZ to Fiji. The nights were full of bioluminescence and the water would glow as the boat parted the waves, lighting up the darkness around us.✨ I heard a story of someone who had witnessed dolphins swimming beside their boat during the bioluminescence and that it was the most magical thing they’d ever seen. So every night I would look over the edge of the boat staring into the glowing ocean, hoping I might see one. Sometimes I wanted it so badly I almost convinced myself I had. When I arrived in Fiji, I remember reading a quote by Roald Dahl: “Those how don’t believe in magic will never find it.” This painting brings me back to that feeling.
