Modern Valentine’s Day traces its origins back to this ancient feast. It’s strange to think that with the help of writers like Shakespeare romanticizing the idea of love, Lupercalia eventually transformed into the holiday we recognize today—a multi-billion-dollar celebration far removed from its primal roots.
