Cotton Stable combines soft backing with a heat-activated, temporary hold. Iron it to the reverse of suitable fabric before embroidery or appliqué, then carefully tear away the surplus after sewing. The white roll measures 30cm x 5m, giving you a continuous length to cut for individual embroidery and sewing projects. Madeira Cotton Stable iron-on tear-away stabiliser in its retail packaging; one white 30cm x 5m roll. 30cm x 5mWhite roll Iron-onTemporary fabric hold Tear-awayNot permanent cut-away Where it works best Knits and jersey Temporarily support suitable T-shirt fabrics, jersey and other stretch materials. The light adhesive hold helps limit movement while the design is being stitched.Buttonholes in stretch fabric Place beneath the buttonhole area to support the fabric as the closely spaced stitches form. Make a test buttonhole before working on the garment.Machine appliqué Support the base fabric beneath an appliqué while sewing around its edges. This is backing for the stitching process, not adhesive web for permanently attaching the appliqué. Product details Supplied One white 30cm x 5m roll Type Temporary iron-on tear-away Product code 9438 Backing Cotton nonwoven with iron-on coating Weight 50 g/m² Bond Temporary, heat-activated hold Removal Tear away excess after stitching How to use it Cut the required backing and place its adhesive side against the fabric’s reverse. Test the fabric’s heat tolerance and follow the pack’s pressing directions. Iron to attach, then hoop backing and fabric together with the fabric uppermost. Madeira specifies a maximum two-dot iron setting; use a lower setting if the fabric requires it. Embroider or sew, then gently tear away the excess. Support the stitched area during removal and avoid pulling or stretching the finished fabric. Cotton Stable is temporary tear-away support. It is not Super Stable, Madeira’s permanent iron-on cut-away; dense embroidery on stretchy garments may still require lasting backing. Good to know Does it stick without an iron? No. Heat activates Cotton Stable’s coating. Choose Cotton Fix if you want a self-adhesive backing with peel-off release paper. Should it stay inside the garment? Remove the surplus after stitching. Its purpose is temporary support rather than a permanent bonded interfacing, although backing may remain beneath the stitches.
