Between them: skulls, corked poison bottles, moths, keys, an open palm with an eye at its centre, small banners reading 666. Splashes of red ink break the black up. Because the motifs repeat at a small scale, a long rectangle reads as patterned fabric rather than one big picture, and it still works when half the table is covered with plates, glasses and candlesticks.
