Magnesium plays a very important role in the human body. It is essential for the functioning of more than 300 human enzymes, participates in the process of energy metabolism and helps maintain normal muscle function. 90% of the total magnesium in the body is contained in the muscles and bones. [ 2 , 7 ] Magnesium is 99% contained inside cells, it is the so-called intracellular cation. Determination of magnesium from blood (serum) for this reason does not equal the actual magnesium stores in the body. Most cases of magnesium deficiency are therefore not diagnosed . [ 2 ] And why did we choose magnesium bisglycinate and not another form of magnesium? Chelated magnesium in the form of bisglycinate is a highly absorbable magnesium that has calming effects and promotes restful sleep. For this reason, we recommend taking it (compared to our other products) in the evening. Another reason why we recommend taking our magnesium in the evening comes from our research. Pregnant women often suffer from cramps, restless legs syndrome and abdominal stiffness in the afternoon and evening. And why did we choose only one form? During development, we also considered other forms of magnesium. One option was magnesium malate, which is energizing compared to bisglycinate and is therefore recommended to be taken in the morning. These two forms are best suited for separate supplementation. Both are highly absorbable and will replenish the overall magnesium level in the body. However, their combination does not make sense - one form will "kick" the user and the other will calm them down. In addition, magnesium bisglycinate is very well tolerated compared to other forms and causes minimal side effects. [ 9 ]
