Bigleaf Magnolia. This most impressive Southeatern native has probably the largest leaves of any deciduous tree, up to 32" long and 12" wide. This tree will easily reach 30' in hei ght and seems to be happiest when grown with other deciduous trees. The wood is quite brittle and can easily break in heavy windstorms, but it quickly recovers. Give it uniform moisture. Flowers can be up to 12" in diameter and are nicely fragrant. We grow larger sizes, but it is difficult to put them in boxes for shipping because of their height.
