Description The MagPro-iM is a loop isolator module designed for addressable fire alarm systems, providing automatic short circuit protection across detection loops. The module isolates faulty sections of a loop when a short circuit occurs, allowing the rest of the system to remain operational while the fault is located and repaired. Once the short is cleared, the module auto-resets without manual intervention. Installed along addressable fire alarm loops in commercial, institutional and residential buildings, the module sits between groups of up to 30 detection devices. When a short circuit is detected on one section of the loop, the isolator disconnects that section while maintaining communication with devices on the unaffected sections. This prevents a single wiring fault from disabling an entire detection loop. The module mounts inside a grey IP40-rated polycarbonate enclosure with four cable entry points accommodating 20mm conduit or glands. The enclosure measures approximately 100mm square with mounting lugs at each corner, allowing surface mounting to walls, backboards or inside fire alarm control panel cabinets. The IP40 rating provides protection against solid objects larger than 1mm but does not carry water ingress protection, making this suitable for indoor dry environments only. The module is certified to EN54-17:2005, the European standard for isolators used in fire detection and alarm systems. A maximum of 30 addressable devices can be installed between two isolator modules. This ensures that a short circuit fault affects no more than 30 devices, limiting the impact on overall system coverage. Does the module require manual reset after a fault? No. The MagPro-iM auto-resets once the short circuit is cleared from the loop. This means the isolated section automatically rejoins the loop without requiring an engineer to manually reset the module. What IP rating does the enclosure carry? The enclosure is rated IP40, providing protection against solid objects larger than 1mm. It does not carry water ingress protection and is therefore suitable for indoor dry environments only, not for outdoor or damp locations. Is the module compatible with all addressable fire alarm panels? The MagPro-iM is designed for use with ESP MagPro addressable fire alarm control panels. Compatibility with other manufacturers' systems is not guaranteed. Consult the installation manual or contact ESP technical support before specifying this module for non-MagPro systems.
