High-volume espresso grinding that can correct itself as your recipe changes. The Mahlkönig E80T Grind-by-Sync is a high-performance commercial espresso grinder built for cafés tha t demand speed, repeatability and intelligent workflow automation. It combines 80 mm special-steel burrs, patented Disc Distance Detection, active temperature control and adaptive grind-time correction in a platform designed for demanding espresso service. Use the E80T as a powerful stand-alone time-based grinder, or connect it to compatible Sync-enabled equipment to create an intelligent espresso workflow where extraction data can be used to help keep recipes on target throughout the day. Grind-by-Sync Technology When connected to a compatible espresso machine or Sync-enabled device, the E80T can receive extraction data and adjust its grind setting to help maintain the target espresso recipe automatically. This connected workflow is designed to reduce manual dialing-in, improve consistency between baristas and make high-volume espresso service easier to manage. Intelligent Grind-Time Correction When the grind size is adjusted, the E80T automatically recalculates the grinding time required to maintain a more consistent dose output. This helps reduce the dose fluctuations that can occur when grind settings change throughout the day because of temperature, humidity, bean age or recipe adjustments. Patented Disc Distance Detection Mahlkönig's Disc Distance Detection technology precisely measures the physical distance between the burrs, allowing the grinder to define grind fineness accurately and repeatably. An electric adjustment motor enables extremely fine burr-position changes measured at the micron level. 80 mm Special-Steel Burrs Large 80 mm special-steel burrs provide the throughput required for busy commercial espresso environments while maintaining the grind consistency expected from Mahlkönig. Up to 8 g per Second On the 60 Hz North American configuration, Mahlkönig lists an average grinding capacity of approximately 7 to 8 grams per second at a 250-micron grind setting. Active Temperature Control A powerful motor and active temperature-management system help maintain consistent grinding performance during sustained high-volume service. Automatic Zero Calibration Burr zero calibration can be completed through the grinder's software without tools, simplifying setup and helping maintain repeatable grind references after service or maintenance. Integrated Portafilter Detection Portafilter Detection helps streamline dosing by recognizing the portafilter position and supporting a faster hands-free workflow during busy service. Adjustable Illuminated Spout The illuminated coffee outlet can be adjusted to help centre ground coffee cleanly in the portafilter and improve visibility during dosing. Large 1.8 kg Bean Hopper The approximately 1,800 g hopper provides the capacity required for high-volume environments and reduces the frequency of bean refills during service. Large High-Resolution Display A high-resolution 88.3 mm display with a wide viewing angle gives baristas clear access to recipes, grinder settings, calibration and operational information. Mahlkönig Sync App The Mahlkönig Sync mobile app supports grinder setup and provides visibility into daily grinding activity, while the desktop platform offers reporting, operational data and recipe-management tools. Cloud & USB Connectivity Cloud-enabled electronics support software updates, grinder monitoring and Sync integration. A USB port also allows wired communication with compatible espresso machines without relying on Wi-Fi. Built for High-Demand Commercial Service The E80T is designed for high-volume specialty cafés, restaurants, bakeries and hospitality environments where fast grinding, repeatable dosing and recipe consistency are critical to service. The grinder doses according to the programmed grind time. A compatible Sync-enabled espresso machine can send extraction information back to the grinder. The system compares the extraction against the target recipe. If required, the E80T can make precise motorized grind-size adjustments. When grind size changes, the grinder recalculates grinding time to help maintain dose consistency. Stand-Alone or Connected Operation The E80T does not require a Sync-enabled espresso machine to operate. It can be used as a conventional high-performance time-based commercial grinder with manual barista control. Sync connectivity adds automated recipe feedback and grinder adjustment when used with compatible equipment. Ideal For High-volume specialty cafés Busy restaurants Hotels and hospitality Multi-barista environments Businesses focused on espresso consistency Operations looking to reduce dialing-in time Locations using compatible Sync-enabled espresso machines Businesses planning future connected coffee equipment upgrades Frequently Asked Questions 1. What is the Mahlkönig E80T Grind-by-Sync? The E80T Grind-by-Sync is a high-volume commercial espresso grinder with 80 mm burrs, motorized grind adjustment, Disc Distance Detection and intelligent Sync connectivity. 2. Is the E80T a grind-by-weight grinder? No. The E80T is fundamentally a time-based grinder. Its adaptive algorithm adjusts grind time to help maintain consistent dose output when grind size changes. 3. Does it need a scale to dose coffee? No. The E80T uses time-based dosing rather than an integrated weighing system. 4. What is Disc Distance Detection? Disc Distance Detection, or DDD, measures the physical distance between the burrs to provide a precise and repeatable reference for grind fineness. 5. Does DDD automatically adjust the dose? No. DDD provides precise burr-distance information. Mahlkönig's separate grind-time correction algorithm adjusts grinding time when grind size changes to help maintain dose consistency. 6. What size burrs does it use? The E80T uses 80 mm special-steel burrs. 7. How fast does it grind? Mahlkönig lists approximately 7 to 8 grams per second at 250 microns for the 60 Hz configuration. 8. How large is the bean hopper? The hopper holds approximately 1.8 kg of coffee beans. 9. Is it suitable for high-volume cafés? Yes. Mahlkönig specifically designs the E80T for high-demand commercial espresso environments. 10. Does it have active temperature control? Yes. Active temperature management helps maintain stable grinder performance during sustained service. 11. Can the grinder adjust itself? When connected to compatible Sync equipment, the system can use extraction information to make precise motorized grind adjustments according to the target recipe. 12. Can I use it without Sync? Yes. The E80T can operate as a stand-alone time-based commercial grinder. 13. Does it connect by Wi-Fi? The grinder uses cloud-enabled electronics for Sync functionality and also includes USB connectivity for compatible wired integrations. 14. What is Portafilter Detection? Portafilter Detection helps streamline the hands-free dosing workflow by recognizing the portafilter during grinding. 15. Does it have automatic zero calibration? Yes. Mahlkönig provides software-guided zero calibration without requiring tools. 16. Can multiple grinder recipes be managed centrally? Yes. Mahlkönig's Sync desktop tools support recipe creation, grinder-specific monitoring and operational reporting. Recipes sent to a grinder must be acknowledged on the grinder before use. 17. What electrical supply does the Canadian version require? The North American specification is 110–127 V, 60 Hz with a nominal power rating of 845 W. 18. How much does the grinder weigh? The E80T has a net weight of approximately 18 kg. 19. What is the difference between the E80T and E80W? The E80T is based on intelligent time dosing, while the E80W platform uses integrated grind-by-weight technology. Choose according to whether your workflow prioritizes time-based Sync automation or direct weight-based dosing. 20. Is this grinder appropriate for low-volume home use?
