DESCRIPTION Archival pigment print | 2020 Location: Albuquerque, NM “States of Color” is a new series chronicling Needham’s continual search for line, shape, and color. The photogr aphic series was taken during the artist's travels around America and Spain, ultimately ending with a road trip from Los Angeles to Kansas City. “The series bends towards a more joyful place than some of my previous work and that was certainly a choice, perhaps even more than a choice, it was a desire. I pushed it in that direction because that’s where I needed to be.” Taken before the global shutdown caused by COVID-19, the editing and constructing of the final images was very much in the midst of it.
