A handmade Malawi side table, woven from rattan strips into intricate patterns along the sides and top. Rather than the glue or nails common in European furniture, the makers secur e every strip with traditional knots. Each takes an artisan several days to weave. As these are bespoke and handmade by several different artisan groups, every piece is slightly individual — occasionally one may have a small wobble, easily corrected with stick-on felt pads under the legs. Works as a side table, plant stand or low stool. Size: approx. 43cm W × 42cm D × 43cm H. Care: avoid prolonged exposure to moisture, which can cause dark staining on the rattan. If marks appear, dissolve a little oxalic acid (from most hardware stores) in water and brush over the area to restore it. Show more
