Remember your trip to the Royal Armouries Fort Nelson with this Iron-On Patch of the Mallets Mortar. Easy to apply, add it to your jacket or rucksack for a fun keepsake. Manufactur ed solely for use in the Crimea during the Crimean War in order to add a much greater weight of shot during a siege. This example and XIX.305 were never sent to the Crimea. Royal Armouries received XIX.286 at Fort Nelson c.2003 when it was grit-cleaned and painted by Fort Nelson technicians before being mounted on a specially prepared concrete base at the front of Fort Nelson soon afterwards.
