Released in 1999, "Man on the Moon" is a biographical tragicomedy directed by Miloš Forman and starring Jim Carrey, Danny DeVito, Courtney Love and Paul Giamatti. The film recreates the life and deliberately bewildering career of entertainer Andy Kaufman, from his early club appearances and role on "Taxi" to his alter ego Tony Clifton, professional-wrestling feud and elaborate performance-art deceptions. Although it received mixed reviews and struggled commercially on release, Carrey’s immersive performance drew widespread acclaim and earned him the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy. The film has since gained a strong following as an affectionate and unconventional portrait of Kaufman, while Carrey’s intense production process later became the subject of the documentary "Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond." This original US one-sheet was created for the film’s first theatrical release in 1999.
