In the border you can see mango and passionfruit, and both their blossoms. This print is combined with checkered patterns since the inspiration mostly came from tiles. It also adds a lot of detail and playfulness to the design. People sometimes assume these paintings are made digitally because of their symmetry, but they are not! Each design is created by hand using pencil, ruler and compass. For many paintings I also make my own stencils to help achieve symmetry, but as everything is handmade, small imperfections remain visible on closer inspection. The charm of handmade art!
