Mango trees have an incredibly long life, but eventually stop bearing fruit and are replaced by younger trees. As India produces, by far, the most mangoes in the world, this results in a huge industry using one of the most sustainable woods known to man. Due to the handmade nature of these products each one is unique, but loveliness comes as standard. Established in the early 1970s, they are dedicated to creating opportunities and support for economically disadvantaged home-based artisans and crafts people in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Rajasthan. The project provides services to enable the production and marketing of handicrafts following Fair Trade principles, as well as providing education and support to empower their grassroots artisans. The heart of their work is dedicated to eradicating poverty by fighting against exploitation and illiteracy amongst their producers and working communities.
