Introducing tactile learning and problem solving is pivotal for this age group. And this is why so many schools and community organizations have implemented the Maplewoodshop woodworking program at the middle school level. Students apply math in ways that are tactile, tangible, and satisfying in ways worksheets and tablets can never match. Students report that they don’t like math but woodworking is different even though they are practicing math skills at every step. Every program comes with curriculum, professional development, support, portable equipment, hand tools (no power tools) and ready to use project materials.
