And in the middle of all of it — small, unhurried, together — the crew. This is what a road trip from Chicago looks like when you finally get to Marfa. You pull off the highway, park in the dirt, and just start walking toward it. No plan. No shot list. Just the desert doing what the desert does and everybody moving through it like they belong there — because by this point, after Austin, after the highway miles, after the music and the dust and the long silences between exits, they do. The Prada store is barely readable at this distance. That's what makes the image. It earns nothing from being close. Pull back far enough and it becomes what it actually is — a small white building in an enormous landscape, and three people choosing to walk toward it anyway. Quintessential Roadside.
