Mariam was born in Ethiopia and moved to Kenya as a young girl alongside her father in search of a better future. Her life of sacrifice began early; she dropped out of school while still young so she could work and help support her family.Together with her father, they found work with missionaries, where they would earn small wages and receive food. Through hard work and savings, they were able to build a modest mud house, a proud accomplishment in those difficult times.Later, the missionaries took Mariam in and moved her to Central Kenya, where she continued working with them for several years. Eventually, they relocated back to their home country, and Mariam found herself in Isiolo, alone with her children and no stable source of income. The father of her children had abandoned the family, leaving Mariam as the sole provider.With no job and nothing in her name, she faced the painful reality of trying to raise and educate her children on her own. She fought hard to get them through secondary school, but when it came time for further education, her resources had run out. There was simply no money left.It was during this desperate time that neighbors told her about Mama Ibado Charity. With nothing left, sometimes not even enough food to eat, Mariam gathered the little strength she had and walked to the charity offices. There, her story was heard, and her needs were seen. She was taken in as a beneficiary, and from that moment on, her life began to change.Today, Mariam receives regular food support from Mama Ibado Charity, ensuring that she no longer has to worry about going hungry. She also has access to consistent healthcare, attending the clinic every Thursday Something she never imagined she’d be able to afford.
