Fluctuating Streams (2020/2024) 19:48 Another Timbre: "'Visiting Cloud (two translations)' features two compositions by the Swedish composer Marja Ahti, who now lives in Finland. Both pieces are arrangements / translations of works originally composed as electro-acoustic pieces, but which have been recomposed for the acoustic ensemble Blutwurst.The collaboration between Marja Ahti and ensemble was initiated by the ensemble in 2021, with Marja traveling to Firenze to supervise the project and work with the musicians leading up to a concert performance in June 2024. The recordings were made at the same time.In both pieces this process of translation has considerably slowed and lengthened the works: “This slowness and gravitas is something I very much associate with Blutwurst’s aesthetic….The aim was to use the originals as a creative starting point for a new soundworld and to investigate how the idea and spirit of the original pieces would carry through into a new medium”.
