Working closely with professional tip-fitter Giles Martin, Mark Williams helped create the X-Tip to solve that exact problem. The result is a traditionally pressed leather tip that delivers firmness, durability, and control—without the fragility found in other hard tips. Traditional Build. Modern Performance. The MW X-Tip is made the way pressed tips should be. Pressed to the correct tolerance, burnished on the sides, lightly dusted with chalk powder, and left to fully settle before use. This allows the fibres to stabilise properly, avoiding the early splitting or crumbling seen in lesser tips. The light blue powder protects the leather from moisture during transit and is easily removed during fitting. Hard Where It Matters—But Built to Last The Extra Hard version of the MW X-Tip plays firm, just as Mark prefers, but with enough elasticity in the leather to resist impact-related cracking over time. It offers a direct hit feel, tight control, and minimal compression without sacrificing tip structure. The Soft and Medium versions have now been developed using the same process and performance standard—giving players the same consistency across all grades.
