The triple headlights change over with the direction of travel, will work in conventional operation, and can be controlled digitally. Warm white LEDs are used for lighting. There is a close coupling with a guide mechanism between the locomotive and the tender. The rear of the tender has an NEM pocket with a close coupler and a guide mechanism. The front of the locomotive has an NEM pocket with a close coupler. The 72270 smoke unit can be installed on the locomotive. All of the cars have close couplers with guide mechanisms.
