The MARS 12925 is a high-performance 50 MFD 370V oval run capacitor engineered for continuous duty in residential and commercial HVACR systems. As a direct replacement for JARD 12925 and various OEM motor run capacitors, this component ensures the necessary phase shift for efficient motor starting and operation. Built to EIA-456-A standards, the unit features a non-PCB biodegradable oil fill and a pressure-sensitive interrupter designed to disconnect the internal capacitor element in the event of an internal failure, preventing case rupture. The rugged oval aluminum case provides excellent thermal dissipation, which is critical when mounted in high-heat condenser sections. With 1/4-inch quick-connect terminals and a temperature rating of -40°C to 70°C, this 50 uF run capacitor offers the reliable capacitance stability required to maintain optimal power factor and reduce amperage draw on blower motors and compressors. Key Benefits for Contractors Physical Compatibility: Standard oval geometry fits existing mounting brackets in most condensing units and air handlers. Internal Safety Interrupter: Integrated pressure-sensitive device ensures safe end-of-life termination. Environmental Rating: Rated for 60,000 hours of operating life under standard load conditions. Dual Frequency: Designed to operate efficiently at both 50Hz and 60Hz frequencies. Broad Application: Suitable for a wide range of HVAC motor run capacitor applications requiring 50 microfarad capacitance. Common Questions Can I use a 440V capacitor to replace this 370V model? Yes, a 440VAC capacitor can safely replace a 370VAC unit as the voltage rating indicates the maximum threshold the capacitor can withstand. However, the capacitance must remain 50 MFD. What are the signs of a failing MARS 12925? Technicians should look for physical "mushrooming" or bulging of the top cap, oil leaks, or a capacitance reading that falls outside the +/- 6% tolerance range during a PM inspection. Does this capacitor require a specific orientation? The MARS 12925 can be mounted in any orientation, though vertical mounting with terminals up is standard practice to verify secure connections and facilitate inspection of the interrupter.
