The MARS 61447 is a professional-grade 3-pole definite purpose contactor engineered for heavy-duty HVACR applications, including commercial refrigeration, air conditioning units, and electric heating systems. Rated for 40 FLA (Full Load Amps) and 50 A resistive loads, this contactor features a 208/240V coil, ensuring reliable performance in demanding electrical environments. The enclosed body design minimizes the entry of dust and debris, providing quieter operation and extended component life compared to open-frame alternatives. High-performance copper and brass conductors maximize current-carrying capacity, while silver-cadmium oxide contacts offer superior arc resistance and durability when switching inductive loads. For streamlined installation, the unit includes large arch window box lugs and dual quick-connect coil terminals, allowing for flexible wiring and secure termination. This 780-series contactor is a drop-in replacement for common industrial components, featuring a standard foot-print compatible with most OEM mounting brackets. Key Benefits Enhanced Conductivity: High-purity copper and brass conductors ensure a cooler running contactor under high-amperage loads. Durable Construction: The thermoplastic housing and enclosed body protect internal components from contamination. Flexible Installation: Oversized box lugs and dual QC terminals simplify field wiring and jumper configurations. Serviceability: Features a recessed push-to-test button and removable cover for direct access to silver-cadmium oxide contacts. Universal Compatibility: Accepts MARS 780 or Furnas auxiliary switches and utilizes standard MARS replacement coils. Common Questions Can I use this contactor as a replacement for a 30A or 35A unit? Yes. In HVACR applications, you can safely upgrade to a higher FLA rating (40A) as long as the coil voltage (208/240V) and the number of poles (3-pole) match the original specifications. Never downsize the amperage rating. What terminal type is used on this MARS 61447? This model utilizes box lug terminals for the main power lines to provide high-torque, secure connections, alongside dual quick-connect (QC) terminals on the coil for rapid control circuit wiring. Does this unit support auxiliary switch mounting? Yes, the housing includes side attachment rails specifically designed to mount MARS 780 or Furnas-style auxiliary switches for additional control logic requirements.
