The MARS 61472 is a heavy-duty 3-pole definite purpose contactor engineered for demanding HVACR and industrial applications. Rated for 60 FLA (Full Load Amps) and 75 Res (Resistive Amps) at a 240V coil voltage, this component is designed to handle high-amperage inductive loads in commercial air conditioning systems, heat pumps, and refrigeration racks. The 60 amp 3 pole contactor features high-grade silver cadmium oxide contacts to ensure superior conductivity and minimize arcing, even under frequent cycling. Its universal mounting bracket and standardized footprint facilitate a straightforward drop-in replacement for existing DP contactors from brands like Square D, Furnas, or GE. Built with a class B insulation system, the MARS 61472 contactor provides reliable switching performance in high-temperature environments. This HVAC contactor meets ARI 780/790 standards, ensuring precise electrical ratings for service technicians performing field repairs or system retrofits. Key Benefits for Contractors Versatile Compatibility: Fits standard 60 amp HVAC contactor mounting patterns, reducing truck stock requirements. Durable Construction: Box lugs with large terminal screws allow for secure definite purpose contactor wiring with high-gauge leads. Quiet Operation: Encapsulated coil design prevents humming and minimizes debris interference in the solenoid mechanism. Reduced Maintenance: Arcing is minimized by high-purity contacts, extending the service life of the 3-pole electrical contactor. Common Technical Questions Can I use the MARS 61472 to replace a 50 amp 3-pole contactor? Yes, you can swap a 60A 3-pole contactor for a lower-rated 50A unit as long as the 240V coil voltage and physical dimensions match. Oversizing the amperage rating often results in longer contact life. Is this contactor suitable for three-phase motor applications? Yes, the MARS 61472 is specifically designed for three-phase loads, providing simultaneous switching across all three power legs to ensure motor protection and efficiency. What is the difference between FLA and LRA on this model? The MARS 61472 is rated for 60 FLA (Full Load Amps) and can handle the significantly higher Lock Rotor Amps (LRA) typically seen during the initial startup of heavy compressors.
