First, lay down your sketch on mixed media or watercolor paper. Use the softer Lumograph Aquarell Pencils for areas where you want a lot of pigment. Then, use a wet brush to activate the soluble graphite. With just a little water, you can emphasize certain areas or do some subtle blending.
