It is produced by Savonnerie du Midi (founded in 1894), one of the oldest soap factories in Marseille. It is one of the last four to produce traditional Marseille soap using the historic "Marseille process." No unnecessary additives, just the power of nature. Unique production process of Extra Pur soap What makes Marseille soap so special is its unique production process, known as the "kettle process." The soap is boiled in large kettles with a capacity of 10 to 12 tons, where the vegetable oils are mixed with water and soda to create soap. The resulting paste is repeatedly washed with water and saltwater. It is this washing that ensures we produce a soap we call extra pure.
