Four characters, one leader, and an unusual amount of reach outside their own affiliation. Blade heads the Midnight Sons here, while Ghost Rider, Doctor Voodoo and Moon Knight all hold second and third tickets: Avengers, Defenders, Convocation and Web Warriors are each reachable with models from this single box. For a collection that is still small, that flexibility is worth more than any one character in it.The squad itself lands in the middle of the threat range, with Ghost Rider as the heavy and Moon Knight as the cheap body. Nothing here is a filler pick and nothing here is a game-ending centrepiece, which is a fair description of the affiliation generally. Midnight Sons reward players who like a supernatural, attrition-flavoured game rather than a straight alpha strike, and they need a fifth and sixth character before a full roster is legal, so plan on this being the start of the project rather than the whole of it.It suits a player who already owns a core set and wants a themed direction to grow into. It is a poor fit for anyone chasing raw power on a budget, and a poor fit if you dislike keeping track of effects that hang around between activations. Painters, on the other hand, get four of the moodiest sculpts in the range.
