Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for 2–3 minutes to allow the spices to infuse thoroughly. Next, pour in 125 ml (½ cup) of your preferred milk or milk alternative, such as oat, almond, or soy milk. Return the mixture to a gentle boil, then lower the heat and simmer for an additional 2–3 minutes. Sweeten to taste with sugar, honey, or your preferred sweetener.
