Mezzanine is the third studio album by Bristol trip-hop group Massive Attack, released on 20 April 1998 by Virgin Records. Produced by Neil Davidge alongside the group, the record marked a significant shift in sound; darker, heavier, and more guitar-driven than its predecessors, with influences drawn from post-punk, dub, industrial, and hip-hop. The album topped the charts in the UK, Australia, Ireland, and New Zealand, becoming the band's most commercially successful release to date. Featuring Horace Andy on Angel, Man Next Door, and Exchange, alongside Elizabeth Fraser of Cocteau Twins on Teardrop, Black Milk, and Group Four, Mezzanine remains one of the defining records of its era.
