The 420 Mast Float was developed to prevent the mast of a 420 from going under water or turtling when flipped over. Similar to an Optimist air bag, this clever inflatable floatatio n is comprised of two, four liter compartments that are inflated with your mouth. They are attached to the main sail with the halyard and then ride up the mast in the track with the sail. The mast float does not guarantee that the mast will stay above water, but it certainly helps delay the mast from going under, which can help save time in righting the boat!
