In 1995, Jose Llacer from Selecciones Magicas in Spain created what has become a modern day close-up classic. Since then, his original creation has been copied and altered, mostly to simplify manufacturing, at the expense of the effect or the quality of the craftsmanship. In 2013, Selecciones Magicas announced that they would no longer manufacture their original creation, much to the dismay of fans all over the world.Magic Inc. is delighted to announce we have bought the manufacturing rights and are now making these right here in Chicago! We have global manufacturing and distribution rights, but because these are so costly to make in the USA, they will only be available in limited quantities. Furthermore, we have made a couple of tiny little changes to the original design that let the mechanism work more quietly and be more imperceptible at the end of your performance, while keeping the original workings in place. Beautifully handcrafted with a brass satin finish, the metal block is larger and heavier and far easier to work than the knock-off versions.Replacement Match Boxes for the Original Match Box Penetration (Cerillas Bloques). Each set ordered will include 3 replacement match boxes. You can get them with or without holes pre-cut. Because these were originally made in Spain, the brass block is meant to fill out a European sized match box. These are approximately the same width and length as an American match box, but they are significantly taller (or deeper, depending on perspective). You can see on the picture an American Dime stacked on the side for comparison. We decided to keep them to this size not only because the effect is so much stronger with a bigger block, but also because the mechanical workings require a specific amount of space to work effectively. You can find these matchboxes online sometimes, in collections on ebay or on specialty sites like Etsy. If you have friends who live abroad, they can be bought overseas as affordably as American matches are in the US.We try to keep a supply at hand, normally from Poland or Spain, but occasionally from England, Italy or other such European countries. Actual boxes may vary from the ones pictured. When you get them from us, we will pre-punch 1/8 of an inch holes on the sleeve and insert box, perfectly centered for proper functioning. If you prefer we send you whole boxes (without being punched), please let us know when ordering them.If you have any questions about this, or any other product on our site, please ask before placing your order.
