Mauritius adopted their flag in 1968 after achieving independence from the United Kingdom. The red stripe represents the struggle for independence, the blue stands for the Indian O cean. The yellow stripe represents the new era of independence and the green stands for Mauritius' agriculture. The flag has a white strip on the side with two metal eyelets.
