Mavis Staples' self-titled debut solo album is released to celebrate the 55th anniversary of its original released in 1969. Part of the legendary Staple Singers, along with her fat her Roebuck “Pops” Staples and her siblings Cleotha, Pervis and Yvonne, this first solo outing was released on Stax Records subsidiary Volt and produced by Stax’s Al Bell and Steve Cropper.
